| World Minerals, USA, mines diatomaceous earth (DE), for use in a variety of engineered industrial applications. The Verti-Press filter is the key device implemented in this process as it filters, washes, and dewaters the diatomaceous earth product.
Prior to installation of the Verti-Press Filter, World Minerals had utilized rotary vacuum drum filters to filter, wash, and dewater the product at their other locations. Therefore, before beginning to mine, World Minerals conducted an extensive engineering study to determine the best available technology that could improve their process; the Verti-Press was selected.
Two key features of the Verti-Press filter that gave this product the technical advantage during the extensive evaluation were:
- Its ability to efficiently wash the product via the robust plug flow wash design.
- The chamber isolation feature which allows the unit to continue to operate with any permutation of chambers offline.
